From May 20 to 21, the 3rd Member Conference and 2023 Academic Conference of the Civil Procedure Law Research Society of the Chinese Lawyers Association was held in Beijing. The conference was hosted by the Civil Procedure Law Research Society of the Chinese Lawyers Association and organized by the School of Civil and Commercial and Economic Law of China University of Political Science and Law. Nearly 300 experts, scholars, and legal practitioners from judicial organs, higher education institutions, scientific research institutions, legal service institutions, and press and publishing institutions attended the conference. Chen Shiyu, Executive Director of Beijing Da Dao Zheng Tong Law Firm, attended the conference by invitation.
The membership conference was divided into sessions including the opening ceremony and the election conference. Professor Pan Jianfeng of Peking University Law School presided over the opening ceremony, and Shi Jianzhong, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of China University of Political Science and Law, delivered the welcome speech. He Xiaorong, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of the Supreme People's Court, Zhang Xueqiao, Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and Wang Qijiang, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of the Chinese Society of Law, delivered speeches in succession.
The membership conference elected the third board, and the draft revision of the Articles of Association of the Research Society of Civil Procedure of the Chinese Society of Law was passed by vote. Subsequently, the first meeting of the third board elected the head of the research society and the executive directors. Jing Hanchao, Vice President of the Chinese Society of Law, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and Vice Chairman of the Social Construction Committee, was elected as the president.
At the general meeting, the President of the Jinghan Association delivered a speech titled "Adhering to the Path of Socialist Rule of Law with Chinese Characteristics and Striving to Create a New Landscape for the Research of Civil Procedure Law", outlining the association's work in four areas: making contributions to building a research system for the practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era; closely focusing on the overall work of the Party and the state to promote the high-quality development of civil procedure law research in China; vigorously solidifying the foundation of the research team for the development of civil procedure law research; and promoting the institutionalization and standardization of the association's various work systems.
The 2023 Annual Conference of the Legal Research Society of Civil Procedure Law consisted of two stages: a thematic seminar and parallel discussions on sub-topics. Attending experts and scholars held enthusiastic discussions on issues such as the coordination between civil procedure law and the Civil Code, the amendment and improvement of civil procedure law, the legislation of civil compulsory enforcement law, and the legislation of family procedural law.
On the morning of May 21, the third member conference and the 2023 academic conference of the Civil Procedure Law Research Society of the Chinese Society of Lawyers successfully concluded.
